Occupying approximately 200 feddans, the CBD serves as the city's financial hub. It hosts the Central Bank of Egypt, the Egyptian Exchange, major national banks (Banque Misr, National Bank of Egypt, Banque du Caire), as well as several international banks (CIB, Faisal Islamic Bank of Egypt), and a range of commercial, administrative, and hospitality facilities.
